Terracotta

Fired clay tiles in warm orange and red tones, used on floors, verandahs and courtyards.

Terracotta tiles are made from natural clay fired at relatively low temperatures, giving warm orange, red and brown tones. They are used on floors, verandahs, courtyards and stairs, and suit Mediterranean, rustic and heritage interiors.

Terracotta is highly porous, so it readily absorbs water, oil, food and dirt and can show efflorescence. Sealing helps reduce staining and makes cleaning easier; penetrating sealers keep a natural look, while coating sealers add a satin or gloss finish. Clean with a pH-neutral cleaner, and strip and re-seal worn coatings when needed.
