Collection: Terrazzo Care
Terrazzo is a composite material, poured in place or precast e.g. tiles or slabs. It consists of chips of marble, quartz, granite, glass, or other suitable material, poured with a cementitious binder or resin based binder or a combination of both. After it is cured, the Terrazzo is ground to a polished or honed finish (satin or matt look). Due to the high content of calcium carbonate, some Terrazzo is susceptible to etching from acid based contaminants eg wine, citrus, soft drinks etc. Etching and traffic wear patters are more noticeable on polished surfaces.
TERRAZZO FINISHES
- BRUSHED – A brushed finish gives an aged appearance by simulating use & wear. The surface is brushed with mechanical wire brushes to make it smooth & slightly restore the colour.
- HONED -A honed finish is smooth with little or no gloss (flat or satin finish).
- POLISHED – A polished finish is smooth with a high gloss which also brings out the colour of the terrazzo.
- SANDBLASTED – A sandblasted finish is matte/textured finish which is achieved with pressurised water and sand mixture.
